Directions: The sled riding hill is located on Totoket Rd, which branches off rt. 146 as a detour through Pine Orchard.

Comments: The main sledding area is immediately apparent on a snowy day, as the only parking is along the side of the road. The first, smaller hill is immediately visible from the road. Over that hill at the end of a paved walkway is a much bigger, steeper hill that is very tall and has a very long area of flat ground at the end. To ride all the way to the edge of the woods is a feat. Those two hills are the main ones, but there are plenty of other slopes the be ridden in the area.

County: New Haven City: Cheshire Property: Public Permission: Yes
Designated Sledding Area: No Turf: Grass Texture: Smooth & Bumpy Crowds: Some
Slope: ~45 degrees Length: ~300-400 ft. Easily Accessible: Yes Nearby Parking: Yes
Hazards/Obstructions: None Video: None Photo: Click camera for photo of hill. Submitted By: Spencer, 12-9-2005
Directions: Sled riding hill on the south side of Cheshire, on Mixville Road, you can't miss it.

Comments: The hill starts out at about a 55 degree angle, but after about 30 feet it tapers to a 45. The only obstacles in the way are small children, but they can be avoided. It's the best hill around.

Sledmaster's additional note: This hill originally functioned as a 1 rope tow ski area, started by several Yale students, but this ceased in the mid-late 70's. Info. and photo source via NELSAP.org.
