Directions: Sledding hill at Franke Park. In order to find the hill, you must turn in off of Sherman Street, just north of Franke Park Elementary School, and south of the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. The main road in the park will fork, it is easiest to turn left. Follow that drive
until it ends. You will drive past a playground, and a huge field. You
will take the first right you see, and then just go straight! You will
go through some trees, and then past a BMX track, down a hill, and into
a parking lot. You will see the hill from there!
Comments: There are two sides to the hill. One side is smooth and fast. The other side will launch you airborne. This is the only hazzard, it's more scary than dangerous if you are careful. Directions: Sledding hill at the intersection of Clinton and Creighton in Larez Park. Comments:Used in the summer for offroading fun. Highest earth point in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Multiple sled paths ... some more tree infested than others. All in all an excellent way to spend a snowy day. It puts Franke Park to shame! Watch out for bumps if you want to save your tailbone. Directions: Sledding hill at Martinsville City Park, 360 N Home Ave. Comments: This is a GREAT hill to sled on. It is a tradition to go sleding on this in on snow days. There are big hills and small hills so it is great for children of all ages. It can get busy if a snow day but if we just have snow & school is in you can sled the hill all day. Hardest part is walking up! Feb. 9, 2010 Update: Hill was only slightly crowded. Steep hike, and had to look out for lazy kids that only wanted to walk halfway up and then sled out in front of you (I'm a 215 lb 6'3" adult male and absolutely pancaked a kid on my first run). Friendly crowd though, and the park has set up hay bails to keep you from sliding towards the fence enclosing the pool. Very smooth until about halfway down and the going gets bumpy before flattening back out. Had a ton of fun today tubing on a 20" tire innertube fully inflated. Directions: Pokagon State Park Comments: Inflatable sleds are highly recommended, as there are some wicked bumps on the hill. The toboggan run is also great fun. Just be sure to get there early. You often have to take a number and wait around a while to get your toboggan, and the line to the run gets longer later in the day. Directions: The sledding hills are technically at Murdock Park (off Cason St.), but everyone calls it Murdock Park which can say that it is owned by the Murdock Elementary School which it is, but you wouldn't think it is if you didn't go to Murdock or know better.
Comments: The parking is right along the side of the hill and true there probably isnt very many people out there but sometimes you can get a big crowd but everyone is usually considerate of other people or just ignore each other. This sledding hill actually has two spots and the one by the street has less area to stand on it is also steeper but shorter.
