Directions: The name of the place is Dead Horse Valley. It is general public land. From Nantucket town, head west on Main st. When you come to the civil war monument, turn left onto Milk St. Milk street, will fork, follow it to the right, as the left street, is one way. the next street you will come to, is Prospect, take a left onto Prospect. Take Prospect, until you see New Mill St. This is the left fork, but past Prospect, it is two way. The people on this street however, do not like traffic going up and down their street, so go past New Mill, and make a right onto Mill St. take Mill up a short hill. At the top of Mill, turn left onto Mill Hill Lane. Mill Hill, will become a country lane, after #11. on the right hand side, app. 20 yards past the house, you will see four white Public Way markers. County: Norfolk City: Sharon Property: Public Permission: Yes
Designated Sledding Area: Yes Turf: Grass Texture: Smooth & Bumpy Crowds: Some
Slope: ~40 degrees Length: Unknown Easily Accessible: Yes Nearby Parking: Yes
Hazards/Obstructions: Yes (See Comments) Video: None Photo: None Submitted By: Russ, 8-29-2008
Directions: The sledding hill is called Petee's Hill and is located right near the center of Sharon, Massachusetts. Sharon's about halfway between Providence and Boston, 30 minutes from each city. Route 95 goes by the outskirts and Route 27 runs through the center of Sharon so it's pretty easy to get to. Just get to the center of town, Post Office Square, where North Main and South Main Streets, Depot Street, Billings Street and Pond Street come together. Go down Depot Street towards the train station, and pass by Pleasant Street on your right. At the next street, a dead end, take a right. On your left is Petee's Hill.

Comments: There is some parking on that dead end but there's a lot more parking in the center of town. The sledding hill is a good hill to sled on, but you have to be careful. There are some jumps for the snowboarders to the left and some thorny brush near the bottom sides, but other than that it's fun! It's cleared out and gets very steep, but there is a long lawn at the bottom so you glide to a stop.
