Directions: Location of the sledding hill is at the Conneaut Township Park Bluffs. Comments: It is a rolling hill and there are areas with smooth slopes as well. Ample parking available if the gates are open to the park. When gates are closed, there is a church parking lot close by that people use. You can get a lot of air off some of the rolling hill areas so be careful. Directions: Hueston Woods State Park is located by Oxford Ohio. (Home to Miami University of Ohio). The sledding hill starts at the end of the baseball field's outfield. Comments: Since it at the end of the outfield, this means that when you go down this massive hill, you have plenty of space at the bottom to just keep on cruising! Directions: Designated sled riding hill at William Harbin Park, 1300 Hunter Rd. - Fairfield. To get to the hill, take the Pleasant Ave. exit from I-275. Head north. Turn left on Hunter road (lighted intersection 2-3 miles).
Comments: Small parking lot by the sled hill, more parking further from the hill but manageable. The first 300-400 feet have a small hill at the bottom to slow down sledders. On the other side is a long trail through the woods that is all downhill. At the end of the trail is another, very steep hill. There is a less steep hill from the watertower above the sled hill. It is occasionally possible to start from there and continue on the sled hill. They range from fast, with large jumps to slow with long flat runs. There are many trees at the top of the hill, but only a few at the bottom. They can be avoided by choosing a different path. This is the best hill in the Dayton area. Directions: The sled riding hill at Edgewater Park right off the shoreway. Comments: The slope from Upper Edgewater down to the beach at Lower Edgewater is a hair-raiser. Not recommended for small children--hang-gliders launch themselves into the air from this slope. Parking is available in many of the parks lots. Gets busy sometimes, but is great fun. Big hill is steep and there is a smaller one with the large hill for the kids. 2009 Webmaster Update: I had received an email from the secretary of the church stating: "The submission by Patrick on 2-7-2007 is incorrect information. This is private property and we do not encourage sledding, even though it happens. There have been numerous injuries and the public HAS NOT BEEN respectful of our property,personnel, parking lots when needed for church services and we do not serve doughnuts and coffee when sledders are out. We have the right to have vehicles towed off of our lot at their expense." Therefore, being the webmaster of this site, I recommend that you don't sled here! |

2009 Webmaster Update: I had received this email from the church building manager, Dave Fisher: "Due to liability concerns, our insurance company has advised us to install a sign "NO SLEDDING", which we have done. The previous posting by Rob Parker on 1/14/2009 is incorrect, as we have not given permission to sled on our property. Please update our listing from your website. Thank you. Comments: Nobody there if you come early! There's a steeper hill and a "bunny hill" and designated walkway. If that doesn't get you, it's home of the Chief Leatherlips(signed Treaty of Greenville...it's a big deal) monument. Westerville, OH. It's right across from Mount Carmel Hospital. Theres a gate entrence thats open when theres snow on the ground. Comments: Parking is paved and at the top of the hill.
